Calabasas, June 28

Another great meet in Calabasas, topped of with Jay Leno showing up in a very rare 1963 Chrysler Turbine.
Other notable sights: three Ferrari F40s, two Vectors (including, I was told, the only roadster ever built),
a Maserati Bora, an Alfa Montreal and an Alfa 8C Competizione. Wow!

Serpents in the Gardens, June 14

This was a bit of an unusual event at the lovely Descanso Gardens.

Fifteen Cobras (a combination of "real" and "reproduction") were parked at various locations
throughout the gardens. There was a tie-in for kids to learn about snakes. Cute.

Lynn Park's "survivor" Cobra has been the subject of a number of magazine articles
like this one written by my friend Matt Stone for
Motor Trend.

A couple of Lynn's other rare Cobras. That's a picture of Lynn in another one of his Cobras
at a different event.

LA Concours d'Elegance, June 7

The highest quality group of cars I see on a regular basis (outside of a museum) is at the
LA Concours d'Elegance. The pictures don't really show how magnificent all of these cars were.

Calabasas, May 31

The first Hennessey HPE550...someone told me that John Hennessey had brought it and was around somewhere.

An electric Mini...and a Tesla (it's a changing world indeed, eh?)

David Woolery's incredible Miata, an MGB powered by a Buick V6, and, I'm guessing, Batman's car.

Muckenthaler - May 17

The annual "Motor Festival" at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center had a number of rare and beautiful cars.

Rancho San Antonio Boys Town, Chatsworth - May 3

A great turn-out at their 27th annual car show.

Ferraris Everywhere!

It seemed like the first few weeks of Spring brought out
some beautiful Ferraris - old and new - wherever I went.

Mopar Spring Fling, April 26

The annual Mopar show and swap meet at Woodley Park seemed a little "light" to me this year.
But even though a few "regulars" seemed to be missing, there were still a number of fantastic vehicles.

Calabasas, April 26

Another good showing in Calabasas this month.

The Triumph Club meets at Autobooks - April 25

There's always a good turn-out when the Triumph club meets at Autobooks.
Several of these cars have recently been featured in Hemmings Sports & Exotic magazine
and I'd seen a few of them at the Queens English show in March (below).

Various vehicles from miscellaneous meets, January - June, 2009

Queens English All British Car Meet, March 8, 2009

It was a beautiful day for a fantastic show. Dozens of MGs, Triumphs, Healeys, Jags and original Minis in all model years and in every configuration you can imagine. There were Morgans, Jensen Healeys, close to 20 Sunbeam Tigers, and a number of museum-quality vehicles including Rolls, Bentley, Aston Martins, etc. A few Lotuses (oddly not one Seven or Caterham) but an absolutely incredible early 60s Elite and two Europas.

There was also some pretty rare stuff including a TVR and three Singers (no, not the sewing machine), two London busses, a couple of London taxis, and a few vehicles with well-done V6 and V8 engine swaps. And of course a few motorcycles.

Jay Leno showed up in his McLaren F1...I'd seen that one before at Autobooks (pictured here).

Hey, even the parking lot had its share of special cars!

If you’re a fan of British cars, this is one meet you should try to catch next year. Check out www.queens-english.org.

An absolutely incredible day in Calabasas, February 22, 2009

The meet on the last Sunday of each month in Calabasas is usually quite spectacular,
but today's meet was beyond description.

Due to a threat of rain (and the fact that many guys didn't realize that it was the last Sunday of the month) turnout was a little on the low side. While I was looking at two 300SLs (I'd seen them there before) an incredibly restored late 50s Ferrari pulled in. While I was looking at that, a late 50s Maserati prototype roared in. It turns out that this car had been driven by Stirling Moss in the late 50s, among others, and had a very full race history.

If that wasn't enough to get a car guy visibly excited, Bruce Meyer pulled in and stunned the crowd with his perfectly restored 1957 Testa Rossa. This is a very famous car, having been driven by von Neumann and Richie Ginther. It's been featured in many books and magazines.

I love living in Southern California - it can't get much better than this for a car guy.
